The state of Oregon has very similar requirements in place for certified nursing aide licensing and registry. Those sitting for the exam need to have completed a state approved CNA classes in Oregon, they need to be graduated and done with high school, and they need to at least have reached age 18. Oregon also requires background checks, fingerprints, medical exams, and TB testing as part of the certification training process. All of this is put in place by the state of Oregon to make sure that the nurses working in the capacity of CNA are healthy and safe individuals. All of these steps (in addition to passing the Oregon state CNA assessment) must be completed prior to their appearance on the Oregon CNA Registry. CNA classes Oregon consist of a minimum of 150 hours or more of training. The majority of the training hours are spent in a classroom setting. A small portion of the hours are lab time. The remainder of the hours must be completed in Oregon nursing home, hospital or long term medical care facility for a student to receive certification. The time at the care facility is spent practicing the skills learned in the classroom. The majority of these skills have to do with the direct care of patients in a facility. The skills are performed under the guidance and training of Oregon registered nurses to ensure proper training and proper care of the patient’s in the facility.

After the Oregon CNA classes are complete, CNA hopefuls in must take the CNA certification Oregon test. The test needs to be registered for through Headmaster Testing Services. They offer CNA tests in Portland, and other major cities around the state of Oregon. It is recommended for people to utilize the practice tests which can be found online. Part of the test is actually performing necessary CNA skills, while the other part is simply a standardized multiple choice exam. Both parts need to be passed prior to applying to be listed on the Oregon CNA Registry.
